Certain is Chris Ahern’s first solo album. The record, produced by Declan Sinnott, was released on Lunar Records.
Chris is from Cork City in Ireland.
He has played with a range of bands from rock through folk to jazz. He spent many years playing with the vocal and guitar swing group Stargazers. The band released five singles and two albums, Chaser for the Blues and Mercier Park, for which Chris wrote the title track.
Chris also founded the Music, Management and Sound course in Colaiste Stiofain Naofa in Cork. Course participants learn about music theory, music contracts, sound engineering and songwriting. Several graduates have gone on to achieve success in the industry.
Here’s how Certain was reviewed by the music press in Ireland:
“A highly impressive album. Superbly structured and highly accessible pop and AOR songs, combining coherent and expressive lyrics with catchy melody lines.”
(Irish Examiner)
“Musical Masterwork.”
(Sunday Independent)
“These classy songs are tightly-constructed AOR gems that run the gamut of moods from restful and reflective to the raunchiest of rock’n’roll, quietly weaving their wicked way into your subconscious.”
(Evening Echo)
“The songs slide down between the brain cells and lodge themeselves within the consciousness. Chris Ahern deserves his place in the sun.”
(Irish Music Magazine)
“Chris Ahern is no slouch when it comes to songwriting. Certain is excellent.”
(The Anglo-Celt)
