Marc Matthews was born in the 1940s in Guyana and is a true legend. His humorous and heartfelt observations on life and its peoples delivered in the Grillot tradition have been slowly melted to the Burn Brothers acidic reggae and dub electronica sensibilities. He was closely involved with the Caribbean Artists Movement, being, along with Linton Kwesi Johnson, one of the most prominent younger poets to come out of CAM. Marc Matthews’s pioneering style was ignited by the resistance style of Poet Michael Smith and writer Evan Jones.
