baseline:mars started taking form in early 2008. Ryan Rehal (drums) and Luke VanEekeren (guitar) have been playing music together since 1993, most notably in The Undesirables (other members now in Chicago Thrash Ensemble and Angel Eyes) and There Is No Shining Heart. Stephen Soltanzadeh (guitar) and Steve’s college buddy Brent Denzin (bass and vocals) moved to Chicago and brought a very rich song writing aesthetic to the project, as well as a really sweet beard.
In the summer of 2009 baseline:mars recorded four songs with Manny Sanchez and his crew at I.V. Lab Studios. This four song release, creatively titled Demo, sat in the band members’ cars and iPods for a year, until all four songs were posted for free download in July 2010.
