a-ha are back with a new studio album later this year and the first single is pure class. This song echos the past by way of tribute rather than replication and even before Morten Harket starts to make a sound it is obviously the work of the .
The band have matured perfectly since they split to do the solo projects back in the late nineties and although they still continue with those projects there is a kind of magic when they come together.

I have long thought that Morten has one of the most unique and faultless voices of his generation, Magne Furuholmen is probably the best keyboard player in the world, and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy writes sublime music.
This track is no different, it has a fabulously catchy melody which has been a trademark all the way through a vastly underrated career, the chorus is as usual where Mortens voice fills the spectrum, and it is pure .
That this band has not been more highly decorated or recognised over the years remains a mystery to me, they continue to produce pop music that defines the genre. I challenge anyone to listen to any album from them in the last 26 years, and not find themselves tapping a foot, or having one of the tracks stuck in their head hours later.
Sadly . . . because of the way it all works. Only the few will hear this track, and that is a crying shame.
