Born as NeTorrey McGill ZOD was born and raised in Flint, MI…ZOD is a product of hip-hop from its birth to where it currently is today. ZOD got his nickname from the main villain in the movie Superman II. “I like the way he had no idea where he was. But he knew he wanted to take over. No matter what! And thats how I feel,” He’s stated that he feels that he came up in a perfect time and era for the art-form that he holds so dear. “I feel like my conception was perfect timing. I came up while rap was still a baby itself. .so we’ve been growing together…rap is like my older brother. I’ve been around to see the best do it. And at the same time I’m able to keep those elements of what I enjoyed so much about the music then, and incorporate it into what I like about the music now.” Torrey (as his family calls him) grew up around music. Trips to his grandmother’s house turned into all of his 6 uncles having a jam session with the live instruments. But that was just part of the fascination with music. Torrey grew up loving movies like, “Beat Street, Krush Groove, and Breakin’anything that had to do with the hip-hop culture. Some of the artists that influenced him growing up were RUN-DMC, Big Daddy Kane, Eric B & Rakim, Public Enemy, and EPMD just to name a few. He know sites his favorites as Ghostface, Jay Z, Redman and Young Jeezy.

At an early age he began recording music with childhood friends in his own little makeshift studio. There were two radios.
