The Young Offenders were a 4-piece pop-punk band from Middleton, Nova Scotia, Canada. The band was formed on November 27, 1997, by original members Dan Magnetic (vocals), Tommy Hooligan (bass/backing vocals), The Egyptian Magician (guitar), and Ryan Rockaway (drums).

The band was a founding member, and central force to the “Local 36” movement in the Middleton area at the time. This movement saw the start-up of a number of supporting bands, some which went on to garner their own following, such as The Lewinskys, in the area and beyond in the Halifax area - Halifax, NS being the closest urban centre and soon became the main audience for not only the Young Offenders, but other Middleton bands spawned from the “36” movement from 1998 - 1999.

These bands would frequent the all-ages club known as The Pavilion, located on the Halifax Common. This club provided a much needed creative outlet for the local all-ages punk scene, and well as for up-and-comers from out of town, such as the Young Offenders. (The club closed but has since reopened with much the same business plan and all-ages target audience.)
The band recorded three albums.
