You Might Think We’re Sharks were formed in 2009 in Austin, Texas, as a vehicle for Daniel Monnich’s songwriting. The band went through more than a few incarnations before finally settling on a 5-piece lineup including Isaac Priestly of World Racketeering Squad and Mike of nanoSMASH. This lineup played at popular local clubs like Mohawk and Emo’s over its brief existence before the rhythm section departed.

At present, You Might Think We’re Sharks have toned down the loud guitar-pop of the larger lineup and focus on folky, electronics-driven songwriter material with pop hooks, and are a 3-piece consisting of Monnich (vocals, guitar, bass, programming), Mike (programming, guitar, bass, synth), and Deb (vocals, piano, Rhodes, organ, synth).
