Yes King (A.R.P: Adams.Rae.Productions) is one of the most versatile projects to emerge from the Grand Central stable in recent years. It is the brainchild of Rhys Adams and Mark Rae, cohorts on previous GC releases as well as guest producers involved in the successful Two Culture Clash release of 2004 (Wall of Sound). While recording the track for Wall of Sound, the pair went to Jamaica to record with local vocalists. The level of activity that followed prompted them to turn their collaborations into a fully functional act, now known as Yes King.

Rhys Adams first joined the Grand Central fold under the name Frankie Valley, when he remixed Mark Rae’s Candystripe for the third 12” to be taken from Marks debut album, Rae Road. He subsequently lent his production and writing skills to Marks follow-up LP, Into The Depths, and a natural collaborative partnership was cemented. Mark Rae has long been a figurehead of the UK music scene, following the success of his first production outfit, Rae & Christian, the establishment of the decade-old Grand Central Records and Manchesters Fat City record shop. Two solo albums followed the Rae & Christian releases, allowing Mark to take his DJing to crowds all over the globe.

Yes King, the pair’s latest venture, reiterates Marks tendency to outdo previous triumphs, building on what has gone before to create a new vibe for the dancefloor. Yes King is a melee of styles, fusing hip hop, dancehall, ragga tinged vocals and skank/ska rhythms to create a truly unique texture of sounds.
