Germany (1987 – present)

yelworC (Crowley* spelled backwards) began in Germany around 1987, started by Peter Devin and Dominik van Reich. They developed a unique style of EBM, combining heavy bass lines, danceable beats, and horror film inspired atmospherics. Their first release, <<Brainstorming>>, was an instant classic amongst electro-industrial fans, and their Blood In Face EP was equally well regarded.

After much acrimony, however, Dominik van Reich quit the band to start his own project amGod, while Peter Devin took the yelworC name and worked on a variety of tracks. Due to a variety of factors (a house fire, the death of his mother, dissatisfaction with record labels), he postponed the release of what was to become the second LP Trinity (a release inspired by Dante’s Inferno) until 2004.

Devin is currently working on the follow-ups to Trinity, which are described as inspired by the other stories of Dante’s Divine Comedy: Purgatory and Heaven.

* Referring to British occultist, writer and mystic Aleister Crowley.

yelworC is probably the first electro-dark music project I listened back in 1999 when I was introduced to underground dark electronics. On those days agrotech band Hocico was very popular in Mexico and thanks to a radio show I heard Hocico based its original style on yelworC and I decided to search for it.I'm amazed by the top quality of all yelworC tracks. Their music will probably be masterpieces in a hundred years.

Founding father of dark electro, right along side with Placebo Effect. You want to know how I confirmed this? Behold! I give you... WIKIPEDIA: FYI---I got this great rip of early tape "demo" material from yelworc, and it's amazing stuff (it's called "1988-1991 Rare Tape" lol---if anyone wants it, let me know and I'll send you a Mediafire link to snag it). yelworC is legendary, right up there with: Cabaret Voltaire, Ministry, Klinik, Vomito Negro, FLA, etc.

Eclosion is certainly the best thing they've released since the classic Blood In Face EP.

I hope that Teufel's Dreizack Part 1 is just a unique compilation song and not indicative of any future yelworc material.
