The Israeli pianist Yaara Tal and her German partner Andreas Groethuysen are one of the world´s leading piano duos and perform regularly at such prominent venues as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Philharmonies Berlin, Cologne and Munich, Teatro alla Scala Milano, Musikhalle Hamburg, Hongkong Arts Festival, Frick Collection New York, Forbidden City Concert Hall Peking, Piano-Festival La Roque d´Anthéron, Salzburger Festspiele, Musikverein Vienna, Tonhalle Zürich - to name only a few.
An untiring creativity in building unprecedented programs which also regard again and again injustly neglected treasures of the repertoire is considered as a special trade mark of the duo.
The exclusive cooperation with the record company SONY CLASSICAL makes up an important part of their international success: The Duo Tal & Groethuysen has released numerous recordings of four-hand piano music (among them world premiere recordings like those of pieces by Carl Czerny, Max Reger, Felix Mendelssohn, Théodore Gouvy, Charles Koechlin, Richard Wagner, Robert Schumann), many of which received the “Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik” and were highly acclaimed by public and press. In 1997 they completed the world´s first recording of Franz Schubert's integral work for piano for four hands, a series of 7 CDs which won the “Echo”-Prize of the German Phono Academy and the Cannes Classical Award 1998. To Mozart´s anniversary 2006 the duo completed a three-part integral recording of Wolfgang A. Mozart´s works for two pianists, two volumes of which in 2005 and 2007 were awarded as well the “Echo“-Prize for the best recording of chamber music. Also the last release with choral preludes by Johannes Brahms, Max Reger and Reinhard Febel in 2008 has received the “Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik”.
