Biography

Xera is an Asturian electronic folk music group.
Their sound is an integration of electronic and traditional Asturian music, mixing live instruments with samplers, industrial percussion… with a symphonic treatment that result in a very wide spectrum of sensations.
They have published their first full work, “Lliendes” (Legends, in Asturian language), under a Creative Commons License (by-nc-nd).

You can buy the CD or listen to the full album for free in their webpage: http://xera.com.es where you can also find more info about them (philosophy, concerts, etc.).

@neverneverrand Before the roman ocupation, Iberian peninsula was inhabited by Celtiberians, mix of native Iberian people and Celtis newcomers, who arrived, by my guess, in 5th-4th century BC. I would dare to suppose that tradition of music, that of primitive nature or even pipes, dates back to that distant past.

Celtic occupation of Iberia seemed too early for bagpipes to be introduced then. Just read a type of bagpipe may have been around as early as Nero, but also read bagpipes didn't come into being in Asturias until after the millenium. Interesting point to ponder. More reading taught me that bagpipes are widely distributed throughout the world. Learn something every day.
