The howling vocals make this album, truly brilliant!

You're both wrong. TVTO is too similar sounding to this and Telepathic has more memorable songs. This is the second best Xasthur album behind Nocturnal Poisoning for me.

@ClearlyMind, I agree, To Violate the Oblivious flows much better than this album.

great album, after weeks / months it got better and better. favourites are the songs 1, 4, 6 and 7. and damn yes, it IS depressive. and it already helped me a few times when i was depressive and then listened to this album.

@blaaargh: You hardly listen to any black metal at all, so what makes you so confident that it's not? Even though Burzum helped pioneer ambient black metal, he was never as depressing as Xasthur is. This is ambient black metal taken to another level of atmosphere. It's a bit unfair to compare the two since they're trying to accomplish different ends.

I disagree that this is "one of the best black metal albums." I think that Varg Vikernes did this style better than Malefic does. However, this is a solid album. Not amazing, but solid.

How people don't "get" this album is beyond me. This is one the best black metal albums I've heard.
