I bought the single LP version back the month it came out, and had no idea there were more songs until I got the CD fifteen years later. Eventually I made a playlist, using the CD tracks, of the LP version, with songs in a different order, and I like it a lot more than the full double play. But I concede, some of the songs could be shorter; but "Melt the Guns" is fine as it is. The remaster, by the way, is a real improvement over that first CD release.
It's a fine album, just all the songs are too long. The music is thoroughly enjoyable, but not quite complex enough to warrant the length that andy gives them. Seems they tried to rescue this by releasing a "shotened" version (which I accidentally bought on vinyl), but it doesn't really work. The songs are all just too long.
