It's a fine album, just all the songs are too long. The music is thoroughly enjoyable, but not quite complex enough to warrant the length that andy gives them. Seems they tried to rescue this by releasing a "shotened" version (which I accidentally bought on vinyl), but it doesn't really work. The songs are all just too long.

I wish this album was a bit more shorter (by like 20 mins or so).

Every song could be a single. One of my favourite albums.

The first seven songs are incredibly strong (especially Jason and the Argonauts and All Of A Sudden), but everything after Melt the Guns is a bit hit or miss. [2]

I just listened to this for the first time in about 25 years. Still brilliant and found I still know all the words. Sign of a great album.

1982--what an incredible year for music. This is one of those brilliant albums I have to sit and listen to in its entirety on a regular basis.

Now I can say this album is brilliant. Actually, Its better than brilliant. I'd compare it with, say, The Beatles' "Revolver" But XTC's lyrics are much deeper than The Beatles. Also, The topics in the lyrics are good. "Leisure" For example is about technology replacing jobs. (it was ahead of its time!) The bass is really good on this album too, Its all over the place in "Jason And The Argonauts". I have to learn the bass parts on this album but I need a fretless bass for some songs.

Very good, if they would remove five songs from the middle, if would be 5/5.

I'm in the midst of an XTC marathon. Saving this one, the best, for last. I have the initial Canadian release of the album which was the double LP version.

Good album, but would've been better if they didn't drag out every. Bloody. Song.

I just got this album today, December 13th 2009. It sure is a good one, I'm listening to Ball And Chain now and it's a great song! (Some of the best music takes time to appreciate, XTC are no exception!)
