Los Angeles (2:16)

Cover of Los Angeles

From Los Angeles and 19 other releases

The Los Angeles Songfacts says: X was known for songs about the seedy side of Los Angeles, covering the shady characters and unsavory places instead of the glamourous side commonly portrayed in the media. This song is about a very racist person that feels compelled to leave the city for a less diverse environment. It’s not about a real person, but a type of person X vocalist Exene Cervenka came across.

Still an intense song, capturing something of a lost world; the Los Angeles of today ain't your father's Los Angeles... Whenever I wanna conjur up the old L.A., this is the first thing I reach for.

@diamma - is it not the artist/label that chooses the music that is uploaded?

The Dangerhouse version is even better than the LP version. Would have loved to have heard the entire album without the Manzerek (over-)production.

When asked why he stood like that it was beacuse he was so tall he was tired of his head being cut off in photos on stage.

I think Greil Marcus described this album as "Raymond Chandler's LA without Philip Marlowe." Probably fits "Sex & Dying in High Society" better than this song, but it's still a good description.
