    The Ghosts Within is a collaborative effort, unlike any I’ve experienced. Veteran voice Robert Wyatt is joined with saxophonist/arranger/producer Gilad Atzmon and violinist/arranger Ros Stephen. They succeed in breathing a new life into a selection of silky jazz standards, reworking some of Wyatt’s past material, and presenting powerful new material—each variety intoxicating in its own way. There is an excellence throughout, executed with an accompanying humility, allowing you to receive the eclectic material with ease. Music traditions are stretched and molded without fully pulling them from their roots.
