Vilnius, Lithuania (2001 – 2004, 2005 – present)

WOZU - alternative metal band from Lithuania based in the capital Vilnius. The band come together in 2005, when guitarist and singer Liudas Cereskevicius met drummer Zilvinas Ivanovas and bass player Martynas Garbacas, who played together long time before. From the very beginning band members closed in the studio and dived into long process of music creating, which discovered the music potential of the band and consolidated its members as friends and as heart of the band. Just prepared music repertoire band started participate in many competitions and festivals in Vilnius and other Lithuanian cities where they were always noticed. After every show guys round up bigger and bigger number of fans. After a year and a half WOZU decided to accept another guitarist - Mindaugas Bite. He brings even more creative freedom in the band, making it more powerful than ever before. In years 2007 WOZU recorded and released their first demo album and made a mini tour in Germany, England and France. After tour the band made first video clip and penetrated in TV screens.

Alternative metal is not represented on the Lithuanian scene too widely. In other words, there’s no other band quite like WOZU in Lithuania. What sets them apart from other local heavy music acts is their heavyweight slow and trippy guitar melodies that, complete with darkly surreal lyrics, evoke hazy boreal landscapes and sound almost like heavy psychedelia. WOZU live appearances are utterly impressive both visually and musically; mottled faces with black shapes, WOZU increasingly shudder and attract people round about. The main ideology of band is to play from the heart and not try to make music in any artificial way.
