Winterborn is simply perfect. One of the greatest Melodic Death Metal records I've ever listened to

Just discovered Wolfheart, and I can't get enough! Great melodies, and the vocals fit perfectly with the music.

Another Amazing band by Tuomas Saukkonen, Is there anything he can actually do wrong?

@Borreh : Well, I won't say that I'm an expert at music, I can just affirm that I fucking loved his first album as Wolfheart, and he was the only singer there. And regarding Shadow World, I can now say that it's really a grower. I just liked it from the beginning, now I love it almost as much as the first one.

I wouldn't call his vocals anything close to powerful. "Powerful" goes to guys like Amorphis' Tomi Joutsen or November's Doom's Paul Kuhr. Those guys can crush walls. Tuomas is barely distinguishible from the music, his pronunciation is mediocre, and lacks ANY melodic direction; He just throws stuff out in a completely random pattern. I really really love his music, and I do find his vocals charming in a way, but I really don't see him leading an album with his voice alone. He's just nowhere near as good.

@Borreh : I totally disagree ! But it's matter of opinion and tastes obviously. But I fuckin love Tuomas' growling, it's so powerful and brutal. I prefer songs without clean vocals but only him growling. Regarding this effort, I enjoy it already and it will definitely get into my tops but like many others, I preferred the global atmosphere of Winterborn.

@Borreh, I agree with your album approach more or less and even the mark, though the problem to me is not the ostentatious brootality but the annoyingly incoherent song structures. Storm Centre has a great middle harmonic section but the rest is skippable, first half of Nemesis is wonderful but the chuggggah in the end just kills it, Abyss reminds too much of Fallen World with its redundant main riff and is too short etc. I disagree about the vocals though, Rise of the Phoenix was quite fine without anything but growls although I agree about the fact Tuomas' growls are quite average. I remember he invited Mynni Luukkainen on Blacklight Deliverance, man, that's the harsh vocals I'd love to hear in this music but we all understand that would never happen.

Feels more like Tuomas trying out new ideas and stuff for the future rather than a milestone release.
