And all those song fragments and drones come together in this, a rip-roaring straight-up punk song. I suppose you could think that the idea here is that all the experiments come first, and we top things off with the finished produce. Yet that doesn't seem right to me: this isn't the song to which everything leads. This seems more like the opener, the song that all the others are variations on. Why, then, doesn't it come at the start? Because they needed a fully-formed song to finish off the punk phase of their experimentation in pop music; that's my guess.
