Graciela Maria :: Many Places
Dont hurt me, I'm realy late - but a lot of weekend work has killed my time. This week my recommendation is especially in between. The first two tracks are definitely metal arrangements without typical metal instrumantation. Heavy, classical and sweet. At the third track a female Willy DeVille comes in. Next song she become a songwriter on a circus ring and more and more electronics takes over the scene. All together carries you away to something between pop, folk and Trip hop...

24 Aug 2009, 12:24 by fmeraFollowing up on the earlier journal, Getting Artist Images to Look Their Best, here is a short guide to explain how images (be they square, tall, or wide) that you upload to artist galleries are cropped for eventual use in the library.
I'll use these images (taken from Simone Kopmajer's gallery) as a visual guide to show how your original artist pics will end up looking as library images. It works on the idea that cropping images square or tall - if your original shots allow this - really is the safer option, as they minimize further cropping when your images are processed. Shown below are three sample images, in square, tall, and wide formats, and beside them the actual 126s images used for the library. The translucent red masking shows where image content will be lost (or hidden from view, rather), and the window is what you'll end up with in the library:
16 Aug 2009, 21:06 by pjebsenI’m currently revisiting some of my favorite Willy DeVille and Mink DeVille songs – which remind me of a TV shoot I did with Willy in New Orleans in 1992, on the event of the German release of his album “Backstreets of Desire” (for the magazine “Das! Das Abendstudio” on the Northern German TV channel NDR). He had moved to the French Quarter around 1990 and recorded the album in the Big Easy (just like 1990’s “Victory Mixture”).
On the night before the shoot, I visited him and his wife Lisa at their home in the Quarter. Instead of doing the usual interview about the album, he suggested that we shoot him doing a tour of his favorite spots in New Orleans.
The following day, we started filming at St. Roch Chapel where the cover photo of “Backstreets of Desire” was taken. For the cover photo, Willy had picked a church dedicated to Saint Roch, the patron saint “against cholera, epidemics, knee problems, plague, skin diseases; bachelors, diseased cattle, dogs, falsely accused people, invalids…

Willy DeVille or like he was also known Mink DeVille died on thursday 6.8.2009 on cancer and Hepatitis C, a disease wich does not get enough attention.
He was one of the big Rockmusicians in the 80s. With a wonderful smoky voice and a sound wich combines Rock, Blues and southamerican rythms in a unique way. In the 80s he was a southamerican Dandy, in the 90s he become the keeper of the blues.
