(1983 – 1992)

Will & The Bushmen was a successful independent southeastern rock band fronted by Mobile, Alabama’s Will Kimbrough and formed in 1983. Will & The Bushmen was extremely popular amongst the southern colleges and often toured throughout the Southeast, playing to packed fraternity houses and selling out large bars across the region. The band produced a handful of hits played mostly on southeastern college radio including Typical World, Blow Me Up, Doubts, and It’s Gonna Be Alright.

Will & The Bushmen started out independent, but was signed to SBK records for its second album. And by the third album, the band was signed to even another label, Core records. In the late 1980’s the band even made it to MTV, but quickly fell out of sorts with its new record label and broke up a short time later in 1992.

Will & The Bushmen’s lineup consisted of: Will Kimbrough on lead guitar and vocals; Sam Baylor on guitar, bass and vocals; Mark Pfaff on bass, harmonica and vocals; and Bryan Owings on drums.

The Bushmen’s albums include 1985’s Gawk, 1989’s hugely successful Will & The Bushmen, and 1991’s Blunderbuss.
