You are the only person who's completely certain there's nothing here to be into. That is all that you can do. You are a past sinner, the last winner and everything we've come to makes you, you. But you cannot safely say, while I will be away, that you will not consider sadly how you helped me to stray. You will not reach me. I am resenting a position that is past resentment, and now I can't consider. And now there is this distance.
Which song describes one of your favorites things to do?: Radiohead - I Can't
Which song describes something else you like to do?: Bright Eyes - The Awful Sweetness of Escaping Sweat

The sun was still trying to warm the city as I walked from the parking lot to the line of early arrivals waiting for their spot on the floor. I paused near an open door and listened to sound check. Pot Kettle Black. It sounded raucous, even bouncing through the empty UIC Pavilion and leaking out onto Racine.
As I made my way to the back of the line, I had to turn a corner behind the venue. The sun wasn't going to stick around long where I would be waiting. One hour of chilly October air was worth enduring for my first Wilco show. Yes, my first. Sad, I guess, being from Chicago.
The fans nearby were friendly, and a couple of young guys behind us asked if we could hold their place while they got some food. They walked off down the street and I fell back into my headphones. When one of them returned I asked if they found someplace to eat. "Sure, but my buddy lost his ticket, he's freaking out!" Immediately someone overheard and said…

Thank god for pop music, because some of them just do the trick that people are utterly incapable of. I remember some of them, that have gotten me in the past, among them are:
Nine Inch Nails - Hurt
Nine Inch Nails - Closer
Broken Social Scene - Stars and Sons
Wilco - True Love Will Find You in the End
Belle & Sebastian - Photo Jenny
Belle & Sebastian - Scooby Driver
Belle & Sebastian - I Don't Love Anyone
Big Star- Thirteen
Pulp- Do You Remember The First Time
Wilco - Kamera
Weezer- The Good Life
Super Furry Animals- Juxtaposed With U
Radiohead- Prove Yourself
Ladytron - Seventeen
James Darren - Here's To The Losers
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Six Barrel Shotgun
And that's just to name a few from a quick look at my library. But considering recent events there are three "new" ones to add to this list:

Hands down the best Wilco show I've ever been to. The energy was incredible and the new songs sound even better live. Jeff even called me out in the middle of the show for knowing all the words and singing along! Best conversation of my life, I'm still in shock over it! French Kicks opened, but there were a lot of sound issues during their set that made them sound muffled and mediocre. Wilco sounded perfect, and Nels is arguably the best guitar player today. He's just insane! Do whatever you can to see this tour.

9 Apr 2007, 01:09 by frankstingI'm Wilcoing muchly today. YOu may have noticed. As I'm going to see them (finally) in 2 weeks, I thought I might aerate my head with their excellent noise a bit this week. Heavy Metal Drummer is on right now, weak song for me though, thankfully Pot Kettle Black and Reservations (a classic) are coming up soon closely followed by Misunderstood. Rocking...
Hitting 7000 songs this week was a big deal. I bet most of my iPod music doesn't get in, cos of the limitation with that iScrobbler thingy. Anyways, you get a good idea of where I'm at. Shock horror, I listen to so much R.E.M. still though. I note there is a lot of Murmur in there - most excellent and ancient album that. Johnny Cash, Leadbelly and Tom Waits take up a lot of my top 10 list as does another sadly departed member fo the Rock'n'Roll fraternity, Mr. Rory Gallagher. Legends all. Whoops, Tom is still around, didn't mean to indicate he was a goner. Have to source his 'new' album, but I've just sourced Little Cloud…

Good song though. I love this album entirely.
