There are at least two bands called Whip.

1. Whip is the moniker used by Jason Merritt for his more solo oriented songs.

He writes a lot, and some of his songs are best rendered by a full band, so he brings them to the musical group Timesbold to gnaw away at.
But sometimes the songs are best left to more spare arrangements, sometimes even just a guitar and voice, so when enough of these kinds of songs build up, he records them and puts them out under the pseudonym Whip.

Thanks to decent record distribution and honorable mention by successful friends, Whip records can be found in small record stores around the world. He performs occasionally with a revolving and haphazard group of players.

He has no hobbies.

2. Whip is a thrash/grind/crust/black metal band located in Oslo, Norway.

The band was started in 1998 at the coast of Helgeland by Jonny and Sturt. Since then Whip has shuffled through various members and released a good bunch of demos.

Today the band is grinding through the masses as a trio with Sturt on vocals and guitar, Mister Fister on vocals and bass and Ygg on drums.

The first full length album is to be released during 2009. Whip will record the second full length during this year as well.

Otherwise the band is using time to plan tours, look and listen through LP’s, search for more beer and make new deadly metal .

Interview with Oliver Palotai (English version)

26 Apr 2011 | from blog.myspace.com/kamelotnorway

This tour started yesterday, and you've already played in France, so how do you think this European tour will go? Will it be as awesome as the recent South-American one was? …
