The demo collection that he just put out is really great. There are only a couple of duds ("Beginning" was way better in the completed version and there isn't really much noticeably different with the alternate version of the other track from the first Panopticon split), and the previously unreleased songs are great. I do wonder what he was thinking when he mixed a few of the tracks though. "Fields" is one of the most clipped recordings I have ever heard, to the point where it is physically fatiguing to listen to. It has a ReplayGain value of -18.19 dB, which is the highest I have ever seen (although I wouldn't be surprised if some tracks from The Axis of Perdition's first album were higher). A couple of the other recordings are pretty clipped too, but nowhere near as bad as that one. If Crow still has the instrument tracks for "Fields" it would be cool if he'd release a remixed version without so much clipping.

Wow, the new Panopticon split is amazing. I can definitely understand how someone could hear The Angelic Process in this.

I don't usually like my BM this raw, but the new Panopticon split is pretty hypnotic.
