Biography

West Indian Girl is a band from Los Angeles, who released their self-titled debut album in August 2004 on Astralwerks.

The profound power to transcend common themes of fear, hope and love using only phrasing and imagery is a rare gift, second only to one’s ability to render out the proper combination of notes and chords with which to propel those words into our hearts. With influences that include British and roll and the soul-seeking ethos of psychedelia and modern day jam bands, Robert James and Francis Ten build opulent compositions that revolve around texture, mood and lyrical romanticism-songs that are inspired by ideals and motivated by feeling, much like the two musicians themselves.

For those interested in her side project, Mariqueen's vocals on the new How to Destroy Angels is pretty awesome. http://soundcloud.com/howtodestroyangels/sets/an-omen-ep-2012

Everyone has multiple facets to their personalities. I have a very dark side to my personality but most people wouldn't know it. Trent didn't gothify her, he just brought out her inner darkness a little bit. She is not a one-dimensional person, now stop arguing west indian girl is the shit!

'Scuse me guys, but this is West Indian Girl's Shoutbox. Not HTDA's. Also, HTDA is explicitly a collaborational project of Trent and Mariqueen's. While sound-wise it does strongly resemble NIN material, it's definitely not NIN either. And if you're fans of Trent, shut up and stop insulting his wife.

HTDA is all about Trent. It's Trent's music thru & thru, not matter what they say. MQ was a hipster partygirl before he gothified her. [2]

Huh. It's interesting to hear how Mariqueen collaborates with Reznor now. The contrast between her singing in West Indian Girl and How to Destroy Angels... First really upbeat, almost sickeningly happy stuff (XD) and now she's singing with much more somber music. Also, don't get me wrong by my wording-- I like both bands... though I'm more of a West Indian Girl listener.
