I decided to give this a second chance on a whim, and I find it to be pretty cheesy, but surprisingly listenable given what would come after. "Haunt You Every Day" and "The Damage In Your Heart" are actually pretty good songs. "Beverly Hills" is still the second worst single they've ever put out though ("Troublemaker" is just barely ahead).

I'm pretty convinced that the majority of the hate from this album comes from people's inability to take Beverly Hills and We Are All On Drugs with a light heart. Aside from those songs, this album is filled with some of the best songs Weezer have released this decade. Anyone who prefers Red over this is just stupid... that album had no direction whatsoever. Make Believe at least has some of the most heartfelt lyrics Rivers has written since Pinkerton.

Ohwell... a few songs on it are somewhat alright... but generally it's just faceless Top 40-MOR rock-schlock. Not really sure if it's just the fault of the uberslick production alone... but it certainly does its job in making the generic hooklines sound a lot more flat and lifeless than they probably are.
