Everybody's restless and they've got no place to go
Someone's always trying to tell them
Something they already know
So their anger and resentment flow

There is a void in music where Warren used to be.

Personal view I know Roy1968Wood but I think your assertion is a little over the top? By the way, Bernie Taupin was the lyrict not Elton.

I met Warren Zevon in 1977 at KMET-FM (L.A.) and I at first thought he was Elton John because he had long blondish hair. I had not heard of him then but soon found out that Elton John couldn't carry Warren's jock strap in the song writing department. One of America's true gifts to music.

Prefer the live version here, with Jackson Browne accompanying. Very simple and earnest.

"Don't it make you wanna rock 'n roll all night long?" - yeah it does actually.

I don't actually mind the live versions, y'know. Many of the songs on my radio have been with me for years, so it's interesting to hear what they sound like live- particularly Warren, who I am sadly too young to have seen in person.

"Everybody's desperate trying to make ends meet Work all day, still can't pay the price of gasoline and meat Alas, their lives are incomplete ." Warren Zevon wrote those lyrics in 1975, but they are so relevant today. The guy was a genius. RIP Warren.

The fuck is that mitchn guys problem? Doesn't he have friends or family to whine to? Gee, his life must be really sad. If my life was so fucked up I found myself spewing limp-wristed, negative gibberish around at total strangers, I'd do something to change it. Maybe work to become a better, happier person or something. Or kill myself. Either or.

His self-titled record wasn't his debut. "Wanted Dead Or Alive" was his debut, featuring only one good track that was in "Midnight Cowboy". The self-titled was his best, though.
