Dark Path (7:05)

Cover of Early Demos 2009

From Early Demos 2009

Another bed track for a Wall of Tears song, three samples are borrowed (plus drum loop):

“Sounds of Hell”

An audio urban legend, these are supposed to be the screams of damned souls burning inside the earth and recorded by a mining crew in Siberia (these sounds are heard in the last minute of the song, buried among similiar original sounds) and they are reversed with a delay effect.

The next borrowed piece of audio is Val Kilmer screaming in The Island of Dr. Moreau and time-stretched over the Sounds of Hell. You also hear this scream during the intro.

I used the ‘sound of earth’ for the intro but it’s buried by other sounds created by Joel. It’s an ambient sound like white noise and plays through the intro. Basically, it’s the sound of the world from space (electro-magnetic frequencies and stuff like that, not sounds you could hear without some sort of reciever) and provides the ambient tone of the intro over which the other sounds are mingled.
