Moscow, Russian Federation (2006 – present)

Walknut is an atmospheric black metal band from Moscow, Russia that formed in 2006, including members of Temnozor, Forest and Nitberg. They released their debut full-length, “Graveforests and Their Shadows” through Stellar Winter Records on April 24, 2007. They claim their musical style is influenced by northern nature and mysticism. The name “Walknut” was derived from Valknutr, the modern name for an old Norse symbol that consists of three interlocked triangles and appears on Scandinavian rune stones in connection with Odin. Their song “Motherland Ostenvegr” is a free download on Stellar Winter’s website.

If you're interested they are alive, both of them.

yeah that's the one where I got the album name. i'm sure by now the name has changed, but whatever. no one knows whats going on with them. no one knows if either of them are even alive still. kinda sucks.

"The Knot of the Dead" is their new LP? When was this announced?

    9 Mar 9:22pm Reply

backslashh: its been almost 7 years GFATS. and they've been working on The Knot of the Dead since forever. so it's a little bit past 'a few months'. tbh though i'd just rather hear more Stringsskald tunes (AFAIK he hasn't done anything since 2010) or something as good as GFATS. i still haven't found anything as good as it even though it's rooted heavily in old school Burzum.

"You're lucky you're on the internet, otherwise I would have poked your eyes out and offered it to those who are still worthy of listening to black metal." Lol. If there's a group "not worthy of listening to black metal" it's those who say certain people aren't worthy of listening to black metal.

Why are people whining about a second album.. It comes when it comes, and if it doesn't there is a lot of good music out there that has a similar atmosphere. These days bands have to shit out new material every year to please their "fans".
