Orkney (2001 – present)

Wailing Miserere is the musical alias of Lucy Hague. Lucy is originally from Orkney, Scotland, where she began writing and recording in 2001, but currently lives in Edinburgh. Her music draws inspiration from a wide range of styles, from folk to jazz to progressive rock. She plays a number of instruments, including piano, guitar, mandolin, tin whistle and bodhran.

To date most of her music has been played and recorded solo, however other musicians have performed with her live and on record, including Tom Pickles (flute) and Paul Reynolds (mandolin).

In 2008, Lucy was selected to arrange and perform two of her songs with the acclaimed ensemble Music At The Brewhouse at Orkney’s midsummer St Magnus Festival, and she performed solo at Ceilidh Culture 2008 in Edinburgh, supporting Mike Heron.

Lucy is also a member of the Edinburgh-based folk rock group Jacob’s Pillow, and she is involved in the collaborative psychedelic-folk project Still Light.

In November 2009, work began on a debut EP at B&B Studios in Edinburgh, featuring contributions from Tom Pickles, Paul Reynolds, William Oke (double bass), Carrie Mary Thomas (fiddle), John Burgess (soprano saxophone), Kirill Nikolai (vocals and miscellaneous instruments) and Richard Werner (percussion and drums). A release is planned for early 2010 on Reverb Worship.
