I admit I had never heard of them before, but yesterday in Warsaw... wow. Hands down the best opening band I've ever seen, and the song which I found out to be The Willing Victim was one of the most incredible I've heard in a while. I'm definitely interested.
I personally think that Approach is the easiest album to... approach *da da dum* but maybe even both newer ones become ultimately better if you give them enough listens. That is, Approach works (almost) right away, the two newer ones are growers. Just my two cents, though. Great gig yesterday - awesome live band! Everything from Kingston Wall-like instrument-breaking rock party to some of the most atmospheric moments and beautiful ballads I've ever heard live... Lots of moods and mood changes. Everyone in the band gave 110%. Just plain awesome!
VHB is great, but the Approach album is miles away from any of their other albums. It seems like they poured all of their creative effort into this one album and were all out of ideas after that. New album all things considered is pretty mediocre, just like LRTS, but they're still far better than any other contemporary finnish rock albums.
'Twas an awful way to listen to Stars Aligned for the first time in the car at night. I didn't even get to the end of an album. So far so good, though. I think they've changed their style pretty much, as they've stated in Finnish music magazines recently. I'm glad that they are such a hit band here in Finland - for once the people are listening to a brainfuck and some great musicians and music, not the most generic possible dancepop, pop, metal and singer-songwriter crap like normally. :P By no means I got "into" Stars Aligned yet, so I'll listen to it a few times before I'll really say anything of it. If I ever do. So far, The Willing Victim remains the same ol' number one song of mine from this band. :)
