Biography

http://www.facebook.com/volor.flex

A lot of things have been said about Volor Flex, the young Russian producer whose music feels and acts like both a tribute and, at times, a cover of this mysterious iconic musician called Burial whom you might’ve heard of on previous occasions.

To each his own - the music is shamless, catchy and most importantly, freely available. Have a go at it, leave all bias aside and take it in for how it sounds rather than what it stands for, you’ll probably find yourself enjoying it

His debut album “Tramp” is available on a free/name your price basis: http://store.darkclover.ro/album/tramp
The follow-up album is completed and scheduled for a release during late spring digitally free and as a limited edition CD version.

Burial had been revolutionary. that's why his creations are either widely imitated, or chewed and spat out. You end up refusing to release your music, affraid that i'll be ripped off, reduced to tainted dross in the public domain, or become perishable and dated if exposed to the atmosphere.

v Aphex Twin said something nice about that: "There's an over emphasis on the new, especially on the part of the mediawho need this continuing diet of the new things to write about. But if you're really serious about listening to music, there's so much great stuff already that out there." "This need to have new thing all the time is just a fiction, its a need to fill space wich is not refecting reality." --- "It's like any art movement, the best stuff is at the source. the rest is derivative"

'Oh he's ripping off Burial' blah blah blah. Shut up and and enjoy both. Burial is so good that there were bound to be people following on from his unique music. It's called progression.

Согласен! На Burial он похож но только слегка в основном своя волна музыки у Volor Flex

Unlit is wonderful. Definitely sounds a LOT like Burial though. Burial with nice twists mind you, which I don't really mind.

Thumbs up for "Unlit". Truly atmospheric and and coherent album. I can't find any weak spots here!

He definitely ripped off Burial, but he's so masterful that it doesn't matter. A producer of this caliber probably isn't going to be an imitator forever and it'll be interesting to see where his sound goes in the future. His style is less dense than Burial, so I think he could do avant garde hip hop beats if he wanted to. I'd like to hear someone rap over a track like "Unfeeling". I'd do it myself if my dorky Paul Barman-ish voice actually fit with the dark vibe.

it always confounds me how producers with a lot of talent (like this guy), waste it on mere imitation.

His beats are amazing. Let down by the blatant copy of Burial's crackling sound bites.
