About this album

Icons of Evil is the fifth album by Vital Remains. It was released in April 2007. The sample in “Where is Your God Now” is taken from the Mel Gibson film The Passion of the Christ as well as the film, The Exorcist. The album cover art is actually a modified depiction (e.g. “666” on the hammer) from a scene in the film The Passion of the Christ where Jesus is nailed to the cross. There is an alternate cover which only displays the face of Jesus in agony which bears a striking resemblance to Jim Caviezel’s portrayal of Christ in The Passion of the Christ.

Also released as a gatefold 2LP vinyl set, limited to 1,500 copies, by Restrain
Records (NL).

"better than Dechristianize? no way, 'cause this is just Dechristianize part 2. " I agree, the two albums sound too much alike. Dechristianize is the better one though

Not liking the production. Far too compressed sounding to me. It would be sooooo much better with production like that on Cannibal Corpse's Tome of the Mutilated or Deicide's Legion... But you can't have everything. Solid album!

Falls short of Dechristianize but that's not a big deal considering that Dechristianize is just on another level. This one is still great, and the title track is epic as fuck.

I love the neoclassical melodies and solos on this album! And the production is great. Very good work by Erik Rutan and of course, the band itself.
