Of course I haven't gotten this from reliable sources so feel free to check what I've written.

@mefurgly the reason the suit was filed was because they were trying to steal the name from Josh Homme. He would go to their concerts and the likes, and he supported them, meanwhile they went behind his back to take the name. If you look at my profile you'll see I have a lot of listens to QotSA and so you would probably say I biased, and I am, but I try not to be. I've been trying to find out exactly why everything happened the way it did, and the information I've gather obviously has a few holes in it, but hopefully it's somewhat accurate.

Hell yeah this is kyuss part 2. I slept on this too, not knowing the drama that meant this needed a different name. Man this shit is Kyuss for sure, over and over. Can't stop listening to Adara et al. Awesome album, I might move to the desert if this is the quality of music that happens.

Kyuss had a huge life of its own before QOTSA appeared. In the early days of QOTSA, it was Homme using Kyuss to draw attention to HIS band. For two years he billed his tours as "From the Ashes of Kyuss...", and even played Kyuss covers. He put out the first Queens release as a split EP with Kyuss on the Man's Ruin label. Kyuss' key songwriting partnership was Homme and Bjork, with significant contributions from Garcia and Reeder, but the band was by no means Homme's work exclusively. In fact, Homme's songwriting credits in Kyuss were continually challenged by Garcia, Bjork and Reeder, one of the main reasons cited for their breakup. It's a shame that Bjork signed a document giving up his rights to the Kyuss name as a 19 yr old, and also a shame it took the remaining members 15 years to attempt to reconstitute the band. If they had reformed without Josh 11 or 12 years ago, the lawsuit would have been much more interesting, and probably would have been in Bjork and Garcia's favor.

After reading this article I'm kind of torn on which side I sympathize more with. On the one hand, we all know from completely separate other mishaps Josh Homme is a legitimate (but very talented) asshole who throws hissy-fits like a 5 year old with no class, HOWEVER on the other hand, if I put all my energy/sweat/tears/who-knows-what-other-bodily-fluids into multiple (and fantastically solid) albums I wouldn't want OTHER people WITHOUT me profiting off of my work like that either. AND let's be honest here - Kyuss gets a lot of overspill attention BECAUSE of Josh Homme/QOTSA.

Really looking forward to Vista Chino coming into their own - let's face it, they stand on their own regardless of a past as Kyuss. Would love to see them as a two-guitar act, and last time I checked, Eddie Glass was looking for something to do...
