Biography

Virgin Iris was born in summer 2008 from an idea by guitarists Tommaso Palmieri and Alessandro Fiordelmondo. The aim is to sweep over a classic/ psychedelic rock sound, typical to the 70s, enriched with modern stuff, thus reviving the past in a new nowadays view. The two founders are followed by drummer Francesco Zedde and then by trumpeter David Uncini. The band start with Tommaso and Alessandro switching at the bass, and briefly they show their original brand-new work in their first gig at “Centro studi libertari – Luigi fabbri”, a cultural club in their own town. Unfortunately after a short while Uncini leaves the band. Anyway the remaining three don’t let themselves down, and don’t give up with the project; at the contrary they fulfil it with more energy and new life. In winter 2009 the band takes contacts with bassist Carlo Amadio, which is delighted with their music, and decides to join Virgin Iris. Within a month keyboarder Alberto Amagliani answers to an ad and after a few rehearsals together the band reaches its final shape; Virgin Iris’ music reaches its defined sound, with new progressive veins. They also obtain Uncini’s collaboration as a sessionman in good part of their concerts, and violinist Valentina Vindusca’s as well. Since summer 2009 a home-made demo is available, with V.I.’s eldest tracks…and a new one with the newest is now being crafted and soon available!
