Painting pictures with music. It’s a unique way to describe it, but that is exactly what happens when listening to Coty Sloan’s debut CD, Melodies Of The Spirit. The wide range of styles used though out the violin-led CD is not something to be expected. The 10-track album features all-instrumental music, with a variety of styles, like Celtic, borderline tribal, easy listening and folk remnants.

This album features songs like ‘The Victorious Sacrifice’ and ‘A Call To Arms’, and while these two songs paint a picture of warfare and battle, within the melodies, you can feel hope replacing sorrow.

The harp infused song, A New Day, paints the picture of a beautiful and refreshing sunrise. When asked about the idea of painting with music, Sloan says, “It’s a unique idea of seeing pictures with music. From what I’ve experience, by meeting people on the road; while I’m playing my violin, it is the pictures that people are seeing that are impacting their lives. Being able to witness peace replacing chaos in someone’s life, or a restoring hope coming into someone’s heart, and simply because I’m doing what I’m called to do; it’s a rewarding experience.”

Any venue in which Coty is playing, will definitely be a rewarding experience; because everyone can appreciate an art piece, especially when it’s painted with music.

Coty Sloan, 24, was born in Grand Haven, Michigan and is now based out of Ottertail, Minnesota. Coty has had the opportunity to play in venues all over the United States and internationally. As well as working on his own music, Coty is now a member of the band Firestarters, a group of musicians, artists, dancers, and worshipers. The band travels around the US bringing freedom through the arts.
