London Calling 7/07/05 (4:06)

Cover of Berkeley Calling

From Berkeley Calling

According to songwriter Vic Sadot, this song is an interpretation of the London terror events of July 7, 2005 based on the films “Ludicrous Diversion” and “Mind the Gap”, which can be found on the internet. One of the oddest but well reported matters relating to these terror attacks on three London subway cars and one double-decker bus was the interview given by Peter Powers of Visor Consultants, a former British Intelligence officer, in which he claimed to have been conducting “drills” for “corporate sponsors” at the very same four locations where the attacks occurred. Many people wondered what the mathematical odds of that happening might be. Some questioned whether Visor Consultants’ drills were actually the cover for live “false flag” attacks to justify new repressive laws in the UK and British involvement in US wars for empire. A more recent movie on the subject is the 2009 released movie, “Ripple Effect 7/07”. Sadot sang this song at the showing of “Ripple Effect 7/07” for the “5th Annual 9/11 Film Festival” at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland on Sept 10, 2009.

On Jan 12, 2010 a new mix was mastered and posted at Last FM. This version of the song replaces a Vic Sadot solo in process version of this topical “broadside ballad”. The latest version has the studio and band effects of the legendary Berkeley guitarist, Blair Reese, carrying the song into a new surreal, but all too real, dimension.
