Biography
Verse Metrics is a Glasgow-based alternative band made up of Bob Dick (guitar/vocals), Alan Conway (guitar), David Dailly (bass) and Martin Dalziel (drums). Formed in late 2009, the band released 5-track EP ‘VM1’ in November 2010 and double A-side single ‘Sleep & Wakefulness’ in July 2011, bringing shows across Scotland and England with the likes of Found, United Fruit, Arches, Gothenburg Address, Bwani Junction, I Build Collapsible Mountains and many others.
Highlights to date include being named in Vic Galloway‘s ‘Tips for 2011′ and Sunday Herald’s ‘A-Z of ones to watch in 2012’, as well as extensive radio play. Since VM1 opener ‘Tired Lights’ won an honourable mention in The Scotsman’s inaugural Radar Prize, several tracks have been featured on BBC Radio shows such as Radio 1 Scotland, BBC Introducing and 6 Music, as well as coverage from independent stations and podcasts. Verse Metrics have also had prominent features in The Scotsman’s Under the Radar and The Evening Times, and positive reviews from well known media titles including The Herald, The List and The Skinny.
In August 2012 the band recorded 5 new tracks with engineer Jamie Savage at Chem19 studios. These tracks will make up Verse Metrics’ new ‘Radians’ EP, due for release on 30th November 2012. With a special launch show already scheduled for The Art School (Glasgow) for this date, the band are currently booking further shows with dates to be announced in the near future.
