Vernian Process is a multimedia project, formed in San Francisco, California by Joshua Pfeiffer. It was started as an attempt to create music inspired by late 19th Century Science Fiction authors such as Jules Verne, and H.G. Wells.
In 2008 Joshua was joined by multi-instrumentalist Martin Irigoyen. They are currently working on their first collaboration together “Behold the Machine”.
Inspired by Steampunk culture and the Darkwave, Industrial, Deathrock, Neo-Classical, Trip-Hop, Post-Punk, and New Wave musical genres. The mixture of thematic influences and musical styles has led the band to lovingly dub their music “Steamwave”.
The project has also featured guest contributions from Pasha Smith, Mitzi Jones, Malcom Schreeck of the Victorian Synthpunk band Unextraordinary Gentlemen, and Allison Curval of the group The Clockwork Dolls.
History:
In 2003 Joshua founded Vernian Process, and released a demo EP that recieved the attention of notable UK music journalist and Goth Historian Mick Mercer. Shortly after Joshua produced his first LP, and has been consistently releasing new material on a regular basis. A collaboration with Colin Sharp (ex-Durutti Column vocalist) was released on his second LP. In 2006, Joshua started remixing songs by artists such as Nouvelle Vague, Attrition, and Abney Park.
Joshua is also responsible for two smaller side projects Digital Disorder (Electro-Funk/EBM), and formsunknown (Dark Ambient).
