Verlon Thompson is a singer, songwriter and traveling performer. Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on Jaunuary 5, 1954 and raised in Caddo County Oklahoma. Since arriving in Nashville, Tn. in 1981 Verlon has been a professional songwriter with songs recorded by Guy Clark, Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson, Kenny Rogers, Trisha Yearwood, Suzy Bogguss, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Dierks Bentley, Sam Bush, Del McCoury and others. Verlon recorded a project for Capitol Nashville/SBK Records in 1991 entitled Verlon Thompson. Verlonco-produced the Grammy Nominated albums Somedays The Song Writes You and Workbench Songs by Guy Clark and has traveled extensively with Clark since 1988. The Verlon Thompson composition Bad Angel as recorded by Dierks Bentley, with Miranda Lambert and Jamey Johnson was nominated for the 2010 CMA Award for Best Musical Event and for the 2011 Grammy for Best Country Collaboration. Verlon’s song The Ballad of Stringbean and Estelle co-written with Sam Bush and Guy Clark and recorded by Sam Bush was nominated for the 2010 IBMA International Bluegrass Association Award for Song of The Year.
