The years have come and gone, and yet for some odd reason I still receive requests for my 'Best Of' journal entries in Heavy Metal, as well as several other genres. Why I still receive these requests I have no idea, but I've relented on being an e-seclusionist curmudgeon and eternally lazy long enough to post my Best in Heavy Metal of 2012 list. I hope whatever poor soul or bored last.fm troll that reads this dated meandering of metal finds something that they haven't otherwise heard or thought to listen to since '12. Unlike the previous journal entry, many if not most of the reviews here are sourced from other writers, webzines, and various publications as noted at the bottom of the review. Also, I encourage any suggestions for albums released in 2012 that I've omitted as it's painfully obvious from my list that I can't possibly listen to everything out there.

Journal entries for 2012 and 2013 are forthcoming. No, for real this time.

2011 was another great year for music, there was so much great shit released by hard working groups and labels that again it was a tough year to make a list. I always feel as though I should wait like a month or two after the new year to make a list like this since I do usually miss an amazing record and regret not putting it on the list. Going from #20 to #1 this time.
Enjoy and GFYS.
#20. SubRosa - No Help For The Mighty Ones
Label: Profound Lore Records
Beneath the Crown
I still can’t get over how those violins sound like trumpets, and its just so cool. What a great sludge/doom release that I was very surprised by. Majority females in this band with a semi-Neurosis/A Storm of Light aesthetic and sound floating about it, melancholic with a psychedelic flavor sprinkled throughout. …

21 Apr 2011, 02:34 by Coffinwood_MillAfter much pestering, I've relented. Hope you folks are happy. Here is my Best In Heavy Metal 2010 list.
Those of you who are actually interested, feel free to comment, criticize, and suggest any albums that you may have heard that I might have missed in any of the heavy metal or hard rock genres. Also, feel free to post your Best of 2010 lists. There are so many things out there these days, that I know I missed a great multitude of things.
I'm open to any listening suggestions!

Kolejność nie jest przypadkowa.
10/10 - brak
2. The Black Angels - Phosphene Dream
3. Daughters - Daughters
4. Intronaut - Valley Of Smoke
5. Abscess - Dawn Of Inhumanity
6. Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest - gdyby dodać tu kilka zgrzytów i trochę niepokoju byłoby znakomicie.
7. The National - High Violet – początkowo oceniałem ich wyżej. Jednak w ostatecznym rachunku album jest zbyt „miękki”.
8. The Fall - Your Future Our Clutter
9. Kvelertak - Kvelertak
10. Voice of The Seven Thunders - Voice of the Seven Thunders
Immolation - Majesty and Decay – po pierwszym odsłuchu dawałem…
4 Jan 2011, 17:17 by amnezjuszPo odsianiu z listy onej zostały tylko naylepsze w mojej skromnej łopinii płyty z roku zeszłego. Opisywać płyt mi się nie che (czasu też nie mam na to) więc polecę tylko tak:
Abscess – Dawn of Inhumanity
Blindead - Affliction XXIX II MXMVI
Carolina Chocolate Drops - Genuine Negro Jig
Chicago Underground Duo - Boca Negra
Current 93 - Baalstorm, Sing Omega
Drive-By Truckers - The Big To-Do
Eric Bibb - Booker's guitar
3 Jan 2011, 20:44 by P_cellAnother year and the good music keeps on flowing. Some great releases surfaced in 2010 right down to the last day making this list a little more difficult to compose compared to previous years.
This year's list will be noticeably dominated by black metal and death metal due to the exhausting and ridiculous high volume of excellence these two genres churned out all year. Every choice below the top 5 tend to shift places every now and then, not uncommon, but the top 5 have grasped those spots tightly.
Here we go.
1. Mitochondrion - Parasignosis
Genre: Death Metal
Fuck that cover is awesome. The Canadian death metal scene has established itself as one of the more notable ones out there, and west coast Canadian Mitochondrion's Parasignosis is just further confirmation of this. It is truly something else. …
2 Jan 2011, 21:23 by Reqviem_1. Weapon - From the Devil's Tomb
2. Deathspell Omega - Paracletus
3. Immolation - Majesty and Decay
4. Inquisition - Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm
5. Deathhammer - Phantom Knights
6. Overoth - Kingdom Of Shadows
7. Autopsy - The Tomb Within
8. Chronic Decay - Justify Your Existence
