About this album
These two tracks are part of over 5000 recordings made by legendary British producer Joe Meek, the master tapes for which are up for auction at the Fame Bureau’s [event=750454]‘It’s More Than Rock’n’Roll’ rock memorabilia auction[/event] on September 4th 2008. The tapes are expected to fetch around £300,000.
Joe Meek (1929 – 1967) was one of the most important producers in British pop history. His most famous production is The Tornados’ 1962 smashTelstar (notorious as Margaret Thatcher’s favourite piece of music).
He recorded countless musicians in the ‘60s who went to achieve worldwide fame. Early ‘60s recordings from both Tom Jones and David Bowie (in his first band The Konrads ) were discovered among the master tapes up for auction, and we’re making them available here for the first time since they were put to tape.
