About this album

Released in 1975, the original LP divided the two long tracks into separate “movements,” as such:

1. Heaven and Hell, Part One
a. Bacchanale
b. Symphony to the Powers B (Movements 1 and 2)
c. Movement 3 (from “Symphony to the Powers B”)
d. So Long Ago, So Clear

2. Heaven and Hell, Part Two
a. Intestinal Bat
b. Needles and Bones
c. 12 O’Clock
d. Aries
e. A Way

“Movement 3” was used as the theme for Carl Sagan’s documentary series, Cosmos. Vocals for “So Long Ago, So Clear” were provided by Jon Anderson.

Not a fan of this one, personally. I think he's much better at ambient stuff than symphonic prog.

Movement 3 from "Symphony to the Powers B" was also the theme to the great documentary series Cosmos. One of my favorites of all of Vangelis' songs.

Everything he's done - and more - in the same package. God-like.

Listened to this the first time just now, and I can say I *adore* this with my full heart. Stunning, absolutely stunning.

I don't recall where I bought my CD, but it is divided into several more tracks than just two. Specifically, there are ten tracks. It's the same music, though.
