Wonderful Remark (7:57)

Cover of The Best of Van Morrison

From The Best of Van Morrison and 13 other releases

Originally recorded in 1969 during the ‘Moondance’ sessions, this song wasn’t officially released by Van Morrison until it found its way onto the 1990 greatest hits album ‘The best of Van Morrison’.

A longer version, recorded in 1972, subsequently appeared on 1998’s ‘The Philosopher’s Stone’ double album of (mostly) previously unreleased material.

However the song first saw the light of day as part of the soundtrack to Martin Scorsese’s 1982 movie ‘The King of Comedy’. The title of John McCarthy, the Beirut hostage’s biography ‘Some Other Rainbow’, is a phrase from this song.

One of the most luscious pop/rock songs ever conceived... I heard it as the soundtrack for 'The King of Comedy' and was introduced to a remarkable artist I'd never considered looking into before.

Van the Man must hear a lot of wonderful speech, about his music at least.
