  • The greatest band...
  • Listening to the Cherone era live recording from Hiroshima and FUCKING HELL were they on fire on that tour... They're absolutely charging, chops for days, everything is bursting with energy, cuts from DLR and Hagar era, some golden choices like Humans Being, and Cherone blasts through it all. If sour old-school fans weren't so sooky about the VH3 era this would be a killer official release. It absolutely slays that legacy-destroying piece of trash they put out earlier this year.
  • I'm not one who thinks the Sammy Hagar era was unmitigated garbage, but saying Van Hagar is better than the DLR era is just wrong. Even putting aside Hagar's and DLR's suitability as front men for this particular band, the songwriting was superior for the first six albums than it was at any later point and the group was at its best from a performance perspective on those six albums as well. The reasons Van Halen is legendary all date back to the DLR era.

  • ˇˇ that's why I'm looking for some good bootleg live recording from good old days. is there any soundboard recording from 1984 tour?
  • Finally decided to check out the new live album.... Oh man, they can't even play two bars in the same tempo anymore. How's that band intro to Hear About It Later.... At this point I think a cover band would do a better job. I'm not even going to start on Dave's vocals...
  • fun ass show last night, Eddie and Alex especially killed it! Dave was a riot as usual and Wolfie sure as hell can play some bass. Great set too, hope they go out again soon!
