Van Go Lion are an electro-pop songwriting and production duo from Portland, Oregon consisting of Amy Paige (vocals, lyrics) and Josh Loerzel (keys, music.) The combination of Amy’s powerful and versatile voice and Josh’s classically-trained piano skills produces fresh, highly addictive hooks backed by synthesizers and electronic beats.

“Van Go Lion are self-proclaimed ’80s dorks,’ with a shared affinity towards The Eurythmics, Prince, and early Madonna; here though, Sugarblush leans more towards her Madgesty’s iconic 2005 Neo-Disco sound… a rhapsodic rollercoaster drifting through a future lover’s dancefloor confession.” — Art Nouveau Magazine

Van Go Lion’s official debut single Body Moves, written and produced by the band and released on Ninthwave Records (US) in April 2011, has already been featured on Arjan Writes, Pop In Stereo, Electronic Rumors, plus many more blogs based all over the world.

” …all kinds of ‘Robyn’ but fresh sounding at the same time, its very much its own beast.” — Portis Wasp

The pair met when Amy moved from New York to Portland in ‘08 and answered Josh’s Craigslist ad looking for a singer for a rock band. They quickly bonded over the song Head Over Heels by Tears For Fears and discovered a mutual appreciation for 80’s music. In early 2010, they broke away from the band, continuing along their creative path, exploring 80’s and 90’s-inspired sounds with a modern twist and a DIY approach to writing, production and promotion.
