The eleven records from the legendary Basic Channel
imprint have been remastered, and are available for the first time in digital format as an exclusive download from Beatport.
Until now the only non-vinyl releases had been the BCD
compilation, which focuses on the more ambient side of the Basic Channel
sound, and the Scion
mix. Both CDs are great, but the longer tracks were featured in edit versions.
So... I had no option but buying the whole catalogue . Pricing is odd, though, as releases are priced on a track-by-track basis and there's an additional charge of 1€ per-track if you want the WAV version. This means the first Quadrant release is twice as expensive as the second one, despite being shorter, and that "WAV handling" of Q.1.1 takes it further to a ridiculous 14€ tag.
I favor the lossless format but in order to avoid bankruptcy I took the records with three or more tracks on MP3, and WAVs of those with just a track on each side.Cyrus
