VY1 (codenamed “MIZKI” in reference to hanamizuki, a type of flower) is the first of the VY series being developed by bplats. It was released in deluxe and standard editions on September 1, 2010.

Unlike the other Vocaloid programs, VY1 is notable for lacking a character to represent what its voice looks like. There is no gender associated with the voice either due to it including both a male and female voice bank. However, this has not stopped many fans and users from creating interpretations of what they think it should look like. Often, VY1 is portrayed as a young woman in a kimono and is commonly referred to with its codename, “Mizki”.
