“A Chanteuse of formidable fame”, according to a review by Billboard Magazine.

Uru has been steadily proving them and others right!

This Nigerian born girl who dances to the beat of her own drum is proud to be from Africa, but even more happy to be “a child of the globe”. Growing up on three Continents, this singer/songwriter has been influenced by cultures from around the world. As well as English and other languages, she speaks her native African tongue, Igbo. Perhaps this is why Uru has always had the ability to adapt to different circumstances. This could also be the reason why her music crosses all borders, and the reason why she has always successfully captivated the attention of people from all walks of life. Definitely someone you don’t easily forget.

Adapting though, has never meant conforming to this girl. Thus her reason for turning down certain record deals in the past. No way was Uru going to conform to any major label’s profile of ‘ready-made studio artist’ doing manufactured formula music. Uru has created something fresh, and refused to be molded into something she’s not. Being signed to California based Tantrum Records, Uru has had the freedom to record her music, working with top producer / engineer Sjoko.

Listening to her music, it is hard to believe that Uru taught herself how to play piano, write and arrange her own music, lyrics and….SING. This is probably why Uru’s writing has no constrains or rules. She possesses an innate understanding of the common chord that runs through all genres of music. Elements of Rock, Hip-Hop, Blues, African rhythms and timing are interwoven into her own distinct sound.
