About this album

Sonic Origami is the 20th album by Uriah Heep, recorded and released in 1998. A limited number of copies included a bonus track, “Sweet Pretender”. The album was praised by fans as the band went in a similar direction to their previous release, Sea Of Light, and recorded a classic hard rock album with many characteristic features of early Heep albums. Sonic Origami is generally considered to be one of the best post-Byron UH albums.

It was the fourth and last album to feature the longest-playing line-up of the band, which included:

Bernie Shaw
Mick Box
Trevor Bolder
Phil Lanzon
Lee Kerslake

Fans had to wait 10 years for the band’s next studio release. It was, however, recorded without longtime drummer, Lee Kerslake (one of only two musicians in this line-up, who were in Uriah Heep in the classic Byron-era), who retired from the band in 2007 due to bad health.
