Active since the mid 1990s, the Masada String Trio plays compositions from John Zorn's Masada songbook. Zorn also conducts the trio's live performances. The members are Mark Feldman (violin), Erik Friedlander (cello) and Greg Cohen (double bass). This trio plus Marc Ribot (guitar), Cyro Baptista (percussion) and Joey Baron (drums) are the Bar Kokhba Sextet.
The first thing to know about Erik Friedlander is that he is a unique cellist whose work blurs genre borders. Is he a composer or improviser? Is this classical music or jazz? The LA Times put it best when they wrote, "Friedlander's performance clearly positions him as the first potential star performer on his instrument."
The Cracow Klezmer Band was a Polish quartet that evolved from a traditional klezmer sound toward a dark, complex and highly arranged form of contemporary Jewish music, flavored with gypsy influences. Releasing albums on John Zorn's Tzadik record label, with its mandate of "Radical Jewish Culture", the band reformed as the Bester Quartet in January 2007.
There are at least 5 bands called the Dreamers. 1. The Dreamers is John Zorn's Jazz Sextet, which consists of :
Cyro Baptista: Percussion
Joey Baron: Drums
Trevor Dunn: Bass
Marc Ribot: Guitar
Jamie Saft: Keyboards
